It’s football season! We love throwing great parties to watch the game and spend time with friends and family. Tailgate parties also make the perfect theme for your fall birthday boy. Whether it’s a birthday party, a casual get together with friends or the game of the season, we’ve got game day ideas, covered. Start with an invitation that matches your favorite team colors. Modern Posh has so many great designs and color combos, you’re sure to find one perfect for your party!

Food and drinks are the most important part of game day, right? It doesn’t hurt if the drinks are dressed up with fun details, in your team colors, of course! Aren’t these mason jars adorable? And so easy to DIY. Fill with homemade root beer for a crowd pleasing treat.

We loving adding football shaped food to the menu. The possibilities are endless. If you want to go all out, make your famous homemade pizza… but if you’re looking for a shortcut, pick up a take and bake version and add the pepperoni yourself. Not only is this pizza super cute, but you just can’t go wrong with this crowd pleaser. Everyone loves pizza!

Here’s another easy addition to your football menu. Add laces to ice cream sandwiches for a fun AND easy dessert. We always suggest choosing one thing to make from scratch and filling the rest of the buffet table with dressed up pre-made food from the deli or grocery store. Save the food prep time and enjoy the game.

And if you’re looking to go all-out, create a coordinated table for all your beautiful food and fun decor. Isn’t this table fun? You’re guests will love the details! Even if you’re not ready to plan something this elaborate, consider choosing a color scheme, an easy choice with your favorite team, and planning around those colors. Buy napkins, plates, utensils, treats and drinks in those colors, but a cohesive look that doesn’t take a lot of work.

So there you have it, a few key plays to make your next game day party to winning success!

This probably doesn’t come as a surprise, but Modern Posh loves planning and throwing parties. A company that creates beautiful invitations should be into the party scene, right? We are so excited to share one of our favorite party tricks. Are you ready? Here it is: If you’re looking to throw a beautiful party, choose a color theme. Pick a favorite color and run with it. This gives you, the party planner, direction in decor, food, invites and every little detail, but it also comes together well and looks totally professional. Today we’re going to show you a few ideas to throw a “pink” party! If pink isn’t your thing, just take these ideas and your favorite hue and start the planning!

Sometimes finding food to match the party theme can be unappetizing and difficult.  Color coordinating food is never a party necessity, but with a color like pink, there are so many fun options to go along with the theme. We love the idea of serving a pink and fruity drink, like this delicious watermelon slushy.

Sometimes we get caught up in making everything the exact same color… but the  beauty of the color theme is that you can use every different shade of that chosen color and still keep a cohesive look. Take this giant fringe, for example, reds and pinks make this a perfect fit for your “pink” party, plus, it makes such a bold statement for a party.

What’s a party without CAKE?! This pink frosting is beautiful, but some colors may not look quite as delicious… if that’s the case, keep the frosting white and find some other way to add a fun topper or cake decor that matches your color theme.

Balloons are a party must! These giant ones are beautiful and make quite the statement. If you’re looking to add a little variety to an all pink soirée’, choose a few accents colors, but keep them minimal.

How beautiful are these pink rose cookies?! Sugar cookies are a great (and tasty!) way to add color and design to a theme. If you’re not confident in your DIY skills, contact your local bakery. They can likely provide you with the flavor and design you’re looking for.

So there you have it, your pink party is planned! Next time you’re brainstorming party themes, check out Modern Posh for fab invitations and create a whole theme around the colors in the invitation design. It’s a fool proof way to throw a stellar party that looks like a million bucks!

It seems like school just let out for the summer, but back to school season is creeping up on us! If you want to be ahead of the game, now’s the time to place your Modern Posh order for all the paper goods to start the new year out on the right foot. Be sure to order a little gift for your teachers, but also a little something for your kids. I’ve heard of a fun tradition in families where the kids have a little gift waiting for them at breakfast on the first day of school. It’s usually an extra special school supply. Whatever you need for back to school, Modern Posh has you covered.

CALLING CARDS

For the Student: Order these for your kids to hand out to friends or for you to hand out to other moms. That way, everyone will know how to contact you for playdates. A new school year often means new friends. What better way to encourage making friends than sending your little one with these friendly cards.

For the Teacher: I love starting the year off on the right foot by sending a little teacher gift on the first day. Be sure to choose something useful. These cards are such a thoughtful gift for teachers who are constantly jotting their email or phone number on scratch paper for parents.

FLAT NOTE CARDS WITH COORDINATING ENVELOPES

For the Student: In this texting/social media world, I like to encourage actual letter correspondence with my kids. I’m trying to teach them to write handwritten notes, just because. I also encourage sending thank you notes for just about everything. Kids are so excited to write notes when they are learning to write and older kids are excited about personalized stationery.

For the Teacher: These make beautiful AND useful gifts for teachers. We carry designs that are sophisticated and some that are suited for kids. Teachers are always looking for something to write a little note to a parent, another teacher or class aid. Make life easy with these personalized cards.

NOTEPADS

For the Student: I’m a list maker and apparently that’s rubbing off on my little ones. They want to make lists of doodles before they can actually write. Once again, having a personalized notepad makes kids feel special and important. These are perfect for back to school to-do lists, school clothes shopping lists, goals for the upcoming year and brainstorming for any school project.

For the Teacher: These are great for sending home quick, casual notes to parents because they are personalized. Parents are sure who’s sending the note home. Teachers have a lot going on and having a place to write down important things to do or remember can be really helpful.

So there you have it, THREE must have items for back to school. Be sure to check out Modern Posh for all of our lovely designs and products.

Have you seen our great new smart phone covers? You are going to love them! Add a favorite photo, or just choose your favorite font. Couture and unique, you’ll have a cover unlike any other. Maybe you just want to include your monogram. If so, this bright and bold cover is for you! The colors on this case are so fun and perfect for summer. The pattern is bold, while the initial is simple, creating a perfectly balanced design.

If you’ve got a bright, color-loving personality this is the case for you! This fresh take on the angled chevron pattern makes this a unique design that is fun and unique. The script monogram is the perfect finishing touch to this design.

This cover is all about the flower power! Including your entire name is another option to personalize your phone. This colorful case will make it impossible to loose  your phone in the chaos of your bag.

This is just a small sampling of the fab designs we offer. We’ve got one to fit every personality, so be sure to check them all out! You’re going to love the bright colors and fun patterns!

It’s just about time to celebrate the moms of the world. Are you ready? No fear! We’ve gathered some great ideas from around the web and can’t wait to share a few tips for the perfect Mother’s Day.

The Perfect Meal

One of the most meaningful ways to  show mom you care is by preparing a delicious and beautiful meal. She will be grateful for the thought and effort, but especially that she doesn’t have to cook! Make it a really special meal by sending out invitations. We’ve got some versatile options at Modern Posh that would be perfect for a Mother’s Day party.

The TomKat Studio

We love all the details of this Mother’s Day brunch. Notice the AMAZING runner? Those are the kid’s fingerprints. You’ve got to check out all the projects that go along with this party. Since this is a party for the women in your life, it’s a perfect opportunity to use feminine colors and elements. We love the spring color scheme used in this party. Don’t forget the flowers!

Camille Styles

Maybe brunch doesn’t work for your schedule or group. How about a Mother’s Day Tea Party? This may be more suited for the girls in the family, but could be such a fun theme to plan a party around. You just can’t go wrong with dainty desserts and finger sandwiches. If weather permits, host the event outside for a memorable afternoon.

Big Flavors from a Tiny Kitchen

The perfect meal for Mother’s Day consists of YOUR mom’s favorite meal… but if you don’t know her favorite or don’t feel too confident in the kitchen, you can’t go wrong with a crepe bar with loads of fruit, Nutella and fresh whipped cream.  Whatever you choose, keep the menu simple to avoid adding stress to your day. What your mom really wants is to spend time with her loved ones.

The Perfect Gift

Modern Posh

These personalized notepads are the PERFECT gift for mom! We especially love using a photo of the kids and mom on the notepad to be reminded of her little ones every time she jots a note. You’ll find tons of great designs on our site, along with other perfect gifts to keep mom organized.

Dalloway Place

We love the idea of gifting your mama a print that tells her how much you love her. This little piece would be the perfect reminder of your love every time she walks by. If you want to give a really great gift, buy the print (or create yourself) AND the perfect frame. That way, all mom has to do is find a spot. You can even offer to hang the nail.

b-inspiredmama.com

Kids say the darndest things and this interview would be the perfect momento of life as a young mom. It would be perfect to do for mom and grandma. Once the kids have answered the questions, find a unique way to display the answers — a photo book or framed print would be fun! And if you want to step it up a notch, ask your kids the question and film the interview. Any mom would treasure this gift forever!

My Bearded Pigeon

Love this throw pillow for the proud  mom. This is another way to tell your mom how you feel, but in a fun way that will be an accessory for the home.

So hopefully you’re feeling inspired to do something special for the mamas in your life. Be sure to check out Modern Posh for perfect gifts and party invites for your Mother’s Day celebration.

As you know, here at Modern Posh, we have a wide variety of beautiful designs that are pre-made and sure to fit any family or occasion. But once in a while, we have the pleasure of creating custom cards for some of our favorite friends, Jami Lindberg of The Savvy Socialista and Sarah Schwartz, editor of Stationery Trends magazine. We wanted to share those lovely cards with you today.

The Savvy Socialista has been handling our social media and more for years now. Each year I look forward to creating her family’s Christmas card.  I mean, her girls are just darling!  You can’t go wrong with such a beautiful family. Jami’s business is focused on creating fun and effective branding for her clients, so whatever she sends out has to be stunning.

We just love her photography on this year’s card, done by the Marci Anne Photography. Such a fun scene that compliments the card so well. You can tell that the photo shoot was well planned and executed. Planning is key if you have something specific in mind. With such an adorable family, you’ve got to feature a lot of photos, especially individual shots of those lovely girls. If you just can’t decide on one photo, be sure to check out all our multi-photo designs.
We were able to incorporate the colors in that adorable photography into the design of the card, which was so fun and a serious perk of designing a custom card. Jami had a fab turquoise piano in her photo shoot that we were able to pull that bright, fun color into our design. We love the way it turned out! We also added glitter polka dots as a playful design element. The gold worked as a neutral and was the perfect compliment to the bold blue color.
We were so honored to create Sarah Schwartz’s holiday card. In addition to working as editor of Stationery Trends magazine, she has just launched a new blog, The Paper Chronicles, for paper lovers everywhere. She is one of our favorites in the paper industry and we couldn’t be more excited to put together a holiday card for her family.
Sarah decided to send a New Years card, which we think is just brilliant. People are SO busy leading up to Christmas, but life tends to slow down a little during that last week of December. Why not take that time to send out your cards? Your friends and family will be so excited to get one last greeting.
In addition to the greeting on her card, we love the use of glitter! We offer a lot of templates with a glitter look that are sure to put a smile on your face. We kept to gold/glitter and white for the colors on this, which is a more limited palette than some of our ultra colorful designs, but it works so well with the adorable photos
featured.

And the photos! Cute, right?! A lot of moms feel the stress of capturing that perfect family photo to include on the holiday card. Forget about it! Your kids are adorable! Take after Sarah and include your sweet kids and pets for a card that is less stress and super fun to share with family and friends.

Check out this sweet party decor and all the special little touches that went into making is amazing!  This charming baby shower is overflowing with handmade love, designed by Bre Speck, a friend of the mom-to-be. Each piece was hand crafted and birdies abound everywhere in the decor! I love the cupcake favors, each adorned with a little nest and blue candy egg on top. Using natural textures, like burlap, make the whole scene seem perfectly comfortable for these sweet birds.  Bre  though about every detail,  from the warm welcome at  her front door to the photo booth with fun props.  The lovely photos were captured by Jeff Marsh Studios.

This week we’re featuring a darling party from Paper & Pigtails {a division of Kori Clark Designs}.  Kori’s theme for this fun play date is, “Under the Sea”.

We love the bright clean look.  Check out how she incorporates fresh fruit into her design to add color.

How perfect….salt water taffy for favors!

She carried her theme all the way through to the water bottle wrappers.   Who could resist a party as cute as this!!

I’m always amazed at the creations that come about by using paper.  Most of us think of paper as something to read and write on.  But as you can see it can be so much more.

Next time you think about throwing out random sheets of paper….STOP….and create something!

How easy it is to not recognize our surroundings when sitting inside a studio creating.  Sometimes it seems so difficult to come up with  fun color combinations when all I need to do is open up the front door and take a look outside.  Or open my sewing kit and check out all the spools of thread, pull out my overstuffed wrapping  paper drawer, line up my colored pencils.  Inspiration is EVERYWHERE.   All you need to do is take a look around!

(photos via pinterest)
Now it’s your turn.  Line up your nail polish, take a walk through your flower garden, play in your jewelry box…you are sure to stimulate your mind to creative levels of inspiration!

frus·tra·tion/frəˈstrāSHən/Noun

1. The feeling of being upset or annoyed, esp. because of inability to change or achieve something.

2. An event or circumstance that causes one to have such a feeling.

This is where I’m at today.  Waiting is not one of my best qualities, especially when I’ve had to wait way too long.  I’m talking about my new website.  There are so many wonderful items just waiting for you to gobble up. I can hardly stand that I’m having to make you wait and wait and wait!

Seriously, I am doing everything possible to hurry this along.  Please don’t give up on me.  I promise you won’t be sorry for waiting.

I’m chomping at the bit…….hang in there with me……..surely it won’t be much longer!

This morning I was browsing through Etsy and came upon these darling fabric circle garlands.  They are so bright and cheerful, who wouldn’t want some hanging around their studio.

Or as party decorations……..

……..or wrapped around a little tree!

How about a window decoration?

And then there is always Halloween.   The truth is the possibilities are endless!

Choosing creative gift wrap is not only thrifty but makes for a great look.   Now that our kids are heading back to school it seems like the party invitations come flooding in.

In the past, it was considered in bad taste to reuse gift wrapping but now that our environmental awareness has changed, reusing gift-wrap and other recycled materials for wrapping gifts has become the stylish thing to do.

Although some of these wrapping paper alternatives may still require paper products, they may be used multiple times and some of them for years to come.

Here are some  ideas that can be created by reusing newspaper, brown paper bags, paper dollies, yarn  and other miscellaneous supplies.

Next time you get ready to throw out an empty paper bag or the old newspaper….STOP!  Fold them up and stick them in the drawer with your other wrapping paper supplies.  Just think of the money you’ll be saving!!  (Not to mention how creative you can be).

Labor Day is a bittersweet holiday – a final goodbye to the summer and all the fun memories of vacation time and weekends at the beach.  Whether it’s a picnic in the park, shopping, or a pool party in the back yard–kick back and relax, and honor a job well done as you celebrate Labor Day.

As Modern Posh gears up for the official launching of our new website, we took a break to snap some pictures for our marketing material.

It was so much fun getting our room set up for the big shoot!  We shoved around furniture, displayed our stationery products, and called in our friend, Jami Lindberg, “The Savvy Socialista,” to be the face of our commercial.

This vivacious blonde brought her natural, bright smile and friendly charisma right to our screen.

We were thrilled to see our colorful, fun products showcased in this beautiful setting.

It won’t be long now……..

Stay tuned……

While strolling through blog land today I came across this very cute Alice in Wonderland-themed party from sweet! cupcakes and treats Enjoy!

Happy Monday!  Our friends over at Poppy’s Home Decor in Mesa, AZ, celebrated their PETALS, a quarterly shopping extravaganza, earlier this month and we thought you might enjoy seeing some of the local talent that participated.  We think you will agree, these AZ gals have some amazing talent!  Take a look…

We also want to give a big shout out to our friend, Carlee, of Oh Snap Photography, for taking all these beautiful pictures.  Not only is she incredibly talented, but a real sweetheart too!  If you’re in the Phoenix, AZ area and in need of some professional photos, please contact Carlee……you won’t be disappointed!

Last night I stumbled upon this great blog post by Denise in Bloom.   She is sharing several different ideas for dressing up your pumpkins.  Here’s her post:

What a great time of year to celebrate the pumpkin.  It’s always amazing to see the new things that are being done to pumpkins for fall without any carving involved.  I have gathered some pumpkin decorating ideas to inspire us to embellish our pumpkins in new ways, making them last through the season.

A change in the weather always seem to stimulate my need for new clothes.  Since the weather is cooling down and the stores are full of all the yummy new fall/winter trends I do believe a shopping spree is in order!   To get the proper inspiration I took a stroll through Pinterest and look what I found.

Basic black and white is always a winner in my book.  It gives off the allure of sophisticated chic.  Add a little polka dot blouse for some fun paired with bright red, green or a yellow  pair of stiletto’s and your set.

The 70′s seem to be continuing their mark in the fashion for this winter.  You will see it in the flared trousers, chic blouses with or without a scarf and high heels on our feet.  Dresses, skirts and coats are sleek, elegant and feminine.   And of course, don’t forget to add a little animal print into your wardrobe.  You too will find a broad variety of inspirations while gazing through the Pinterest fashion boards.

Have fun shopping!

Hostess with the Mostess shared this darling party set-up with products from Sweet Scarlet and I thought it was just too cute not to share with all of you.

Live, bright fun and not too spooky – perfect for a first Halloween! Your little ones will love this cute little set to put any Halloween party on the map. Go for something different other than witches and ghosts and pumpkins and let the “monsters out” for this one.

I don’t think anyone could resist gobbling up one of those yummy cupcakes.  Especially when they are all dressed up with these monster cupcake wrappers and  Halloween  party circles.  This adorable printable Halloween banner makes for the perfect accent for getting everyone in the spooky spirit.

Milk never looked so good as when you serve it in these old fashion mini milk bottles.  Add a stripped straw and a colorful creature sticker and I’m sure there won’t be a drop left!

I’m drooling over this black and white mini pumpkin.  It is such an eye-catcher.  How cute to set these around your table.  Okay, you still have time to run out and gather your party decorations…..don’t forget your costume….and invite some friends and family over for a monster good time! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeen!!!!

Halloween decorations can make this holiday festive, fun, downright scary, or all three.   Someone always has a unique Halloween display that catches your eye.  What’s Halloween without a jack-o-lantern?  These days the unordinary is what it’s all about when it comes to decorating.  I stopped by Martha Stewart’s spooky headquarters and picked up these photos of some fun creations to get you in the spirit.

This witch decided to “hang around” for all the fun!

This little lion found his treat in the pumpkin patch.

I dare you to nibble off the goodies on this ghoulish table.

Mice never looked so sweet!

This costume will keep you from having to wait in line for the metro.

No trick or treat bag will go empty if you are lucky enough to stop by a candy table like this one.

As you venture out to join in the fun this Halloween night, beware of all the ghost, ghouls and monsters……you never know what might be lurking behind the next door!!!!!

With Thanksgiving being less then a month away, many of us are planning our delicious dinners, family get togethers and shopping for Christmas deals.  Often times the meaning of  this special holiday seems to get lost in the excitement of Santa’s December arrival.  When I came across Emily’s post on her Jones Design Company blog it warmed my heart.  Here’s what she had to say:

“This season leading up to Thanksgiving is one of my favorites.  If there is anything I’d like to be, it is thankful, and so I love the idea of expressing our gratitude both in spoken and written word.

I have created a set of cards to help encourage this attitude of thankfulness.

You could put one at each place setting at the the Thanksgiving table, have your family and friends fill them out and share with each other.  My sister does this each night leading up to Thanksgiving with her family and then saves the cards to read the following year.

Another great way to use the cards is to turn them into tags

and hang them on a thankful tree.

The boys and I tromped out into the woods, cut down a few branches, put them into a heavy urn and filled the bottom with stones to hold the branches in place.

Every day, we each write one thing we are thankful for. And the rule is that nothing can be duplicated.  This is our first year doing a thankful tree and I’m looking forward to seeing what the boy’s come up with. I hope it is a great way to instill in them the importance of having a thankful heart.  I know it will be good practice for me and Ryan, too.

{at least we’ve instilled some self-esteem in this silly child}.”

What a wonderful tradition to start with your loved ones.   We live in such a busy world we sometimes forget to slow down and appreciate all that we have.  Maybe this will be something you will want to do with your family too!

What girl doesn’t love a pom-pom?   They just make you smile.  Today I’m featuring this cute post from two shades of pink blogspot.  She took simple supplies and made these adorable pom-pom gift tags.  Here’s what she had to say:

“So my preoccupation with all things yarn continues.  And as most of you probably already know…making a pom pom can be rather addicting.  They are so fun, so colorful, and I thought to myself…something this fun should be on a stick. Seriously, aren’t things cuter on a stick?

So that is just what I did.
After gluing them on lollipop sticks I added some washi tape for a sweet little message.
I also decided that making little pockets on a gift would crank up the cuteness factor.
To make the pockets I used leftover paint chips.

I used washi tape and double sided tape to secure the pockets.

This one I just folded over and taped the edges but left a little space by the fold for the stick to slide into.

So fun!

But of course my favorite is with a little bit of simplicity.

Just taping it to the gift with some extra washi tape.
This makes me happy. :)
These little gift tags will come in handy for this holiday season.  Can’t you just see them in all the fun Christmas colors tucked into presents under your tree!  Or maybe I might just use them as napkin holders for our Christmas dinner…..oh, so many ideas.
Happy Monday and have a wonderful week!

OK, let’s be honest, a turkey is not the most beautiful bird out there.  That wrinkly waddle is not something you long to look at.  But through creative eyes and hands, many have been able to come up with much more fun and yummy ways to see beauty in these guys.  So in honor of “Mr. Tom Turkey”  here’s some last minute, eye-pleasing, ideas for your Thanksgiving celebration via Pinterest.

You could use these paper tail feathers for your guests to write what they are thankful for. A quick project for your kids…  use a long piece of brown paper and cut fringe on the end for your table runner.

Now what child could resist not eating his dinner if it were presented like this!   Especially if this cute little chocolate turkey cupcake were for dessert.

Don’t want the kids in the kitchen….set up a small craft table for the kids to create their own favor cup while you’re busy getting your turkey dinner ready.

Did you even know there were so many ways to create a yummy turkey?

We have so many things to be thankful for.  As you gather with your family friends on Thursday to celebrate Thanksgiving, be sure to focus on the positive things that you have experienced this year.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” –Melody Beattie

WISHING YOU A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVNG!

There’s something particularly charming about snowmen.  I just love all their cute faces, how they sparkle and all the different ways one can be created.  Take for example these darling hand carved, vintage inspired little guys by Trieste Prusso Design’s.   Each piece is sculpted, carved, painted, antiqued and then glittered.  Mounting them on vintage toy blocks is the perfect finishing touch.

Carynbay is the talented artist who created this set of three, adorable, tiny snowmen ornaments. They are made of knit fabric and tea dyed to give a vintage feel.  On their heads are sugared acorn caps. At their neck is pretty silver tinsel.  Their arms are made of twigs and they have a light dusting of mica snow.  Are these just TOO cute!

Guaranteed to make you smile is Teresa Perleberg‘s  unique solid wool snowman.  He’s sporting a hand spun and hand knit woolen scarf.  Teresa’s little man was made using the art of needle felting from the fleece of her Romney sheep.  Perfect hostess gift or for a snowman collector.

Jenny of The Polka Dot Pixie does amazing paperclay creations.  These darling snowmen are sure to make everyone smile.  Jenny uses her sculpting talent to for these one-of-a-kind, whimsical men.

OK, this looks like a project I may be able to pull off.   Better Homes and Garden came up with this great idea.  Embellish your holiday displays with a tex¬tural snowman made from balls of twine or string. Stack three different-size balls of twine on top of each other and hot-glue together and embellish.  Wouldn’t he look great perched on your desk this time of year.  These are just a small example of some fun ways to create snowmen.  Maybe you will be inspired to create you special one-of-a-kind little guy for Christmas!

We’re tooting our horns and waving our pom-poms!  Our website is finally up and running just in time for the holidays.  We are thrilled to be able to offer you our new lines of cards, address labels, gift enclosures, stationery, etc.  It’s been months and months of a lot of hard work but we think you will agree that it was worth the wait.

Speaking of holidays, did you know the custom of sending Christmas cards started in the U.K. in 1843 by Sir Henry Cole. He was a Government worker who was very interested in the new ‘Public Post Office’ and wondered how it could be used more by ordinary people.  So he and a friend created the first Christmas card and the rest is history.

This year why not send one of our modern, unique and colorful cards to your friends and family.

Modern Posh carries a variety of options for you to create your own individual card.   Choose your font, colors, and photo.

Oh, and don’t forget your return address label.  We offer several darling labels for you to choose from.

As you prepare for this holiday season be sure to put your Christmas cards at the top of your list.  The Christmas season is about love, caring and sharing. It’s so nice to be remembered at this time of year and even nicer to receive something by mail.

What do snow…..

…. and mozzarella cheese……

……have in common?

A snowman, of course!!!  I know, I have had snowmen on the brain lately.  It must be the weather and the holiday.  But when I came across this darling idea from “ less than perfect life of bliss” blog post,  I just had to share it with all of you.  Not only is this easy, but it is sure to be the hit of the party!

Here’s how to make your own cheesy snowman:

Just mix together (2) 8-oz. packages of cream cheese, a clove of garlic (minced) & a 1/4 cup of finely shredded mozzarella. Form the mixture into 2 balls , one larger & one smaller, then roll the balls in more mozzarella. To assemble the snowman, stack the small ball on top of the larger (use toothpicks to stack if needed), then add peppercorns for the eyes & buttons & a shred of carrot for the nose. To make the hat, cut circles from a piece of toasted wheat bread, then place it on his head with a toothpick!

He is just so stink’n cute!!  Something tells me that we are all grabbing our purses and car keys and heading to the grocery store.  Oh wait, I don’t have a party to take him to……Hhhmmmmm…..that’s okay, he’ll be a welcomed guest right here in our breakroom!

Today I thought you might enjoy a stroll through vintage Christmas memory lane.  Karen, of My Desert Cottage, home reflects the cottage style and gives off that warm, cozy, welcome feel as soon as you enter.  But during the Christmas season she goes all out to transform her home into a beautiful vintage Christmas wonderland.  A web designer by trade Karen’s free time is spent creating pretty vintage items.  As you will see in this tour of her home, many of her Christmas decorations are hand crafted by her.

A collector of vintage goods, Karen incorporates these found gems into her home decor.  Like the antique scale and bottle brush trees on her end table.  She brings in some fresh greens for color.

Most of her tree decorations are her own handmade beauties!

I’m drooling over her amazing garland draped over her window curtains.  It is a work of art in itself.

These snowflakes are the bomb! She made these too!  Loading her mantle garland with glass ornaments, lights, crystals, berries and paper snowflakes make this a show-stopper for sure!  Keeping with the theme Karen used vintage sheet music to create the snowflakes.

Adorning the dining room chandelier with greens, glass ornaments and antique tinsel adds more ambiance to the room.  Hanging the glass balls and crystals is such a pretty touch to the already gorgeous chandelier decor.

I think you will agree that this home has total “wow” factor!  It just makes you want to curl up on her comfy couch with a mug of hot chocolate, Christmas music playing and just take it all in.

Now that we are all done running around trying to cross-off everything on our to-do list for Christmas, it’s time to slow down, relax and enjoy some quiet home time.   After seeing this unique dessert table over at Hostess (with the mostess), I thought this would be a great idea for hosting a small get-together for New Year’s Eve.  Jessica of Pen and Paper Flowers, is the creative talent behind this beautiful party idea that reflects the warmth of the Holiday Season.

Using a soft, creamy color palette she incorporated tea-stained paper dollies, ivory yarn, lace doily ribbons and shredded vintage paper.

Jessica used the “key decor” as the element for “unlocking” the holiday warmth theme.

The shredded vintage paper is such a cute change from the usual flowers in a vase.

These doily handmade flowers would be darling displayed in a little jar anytime of year.  The white hot chocolate in tall skinny shot glasses carries on the neutral color theme.

Who knew that wrapping boxes in brown paper, doilies and lace could look so sweet.

This color palette has such a calm soft feel to it and lends itself to be used in so many other settings — wedding showers, anniversary parties, baby showers, etc.  If you’re thinking you might like to use this idea for your New Year’s Eve party, why not sprinkle a little opaque glitter around your table to jazz things up.

As 2011 comes to an end we at Modern Posh want to thank you for your patronage.   We look forward to an exciting and creative 2012.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year everyone!   We at Modern Posh are busy creating new, fresh designs for 2012.

Now that the holiday is behind us, the new year brings an opportunity to regroup, declutter and take a breath.   It’s also the time we sit down to write our thank you’s for all our wonderful gifts we received.   We carry some fun, personalized cards just for that purpose.

These pretty cards will make a distinct impression with their unique designs and colorful patterns.

Put a face on it!  You can customize our cards by adding a picture of someone special.  We know these little touches matter when keeping your family and friends in the loop.

Remember, email can get boring and receiving a personal thank you note always makes a person feel good.   And when the notecards are fun and fabulous…well….that only makes it better.   We love what we do and we hope you do too!

Strolling through Pinterest the other day I came across this sweet picture of a baby shower for Jade over at Lovey Living.  After looking at a few days of dark overcast skies this was just such a happy pick-me-up.  I must admit that it does make me yearn for Spring and tulips.  In celebration of her new bundle of joy Jade picked the ever favorite pink!  Hey, what girl doesn’t like pink.  From the tissue pom “clouds” hanging overhead to a charming dessert table, this party definitely feels like a sweet lullaby-come-true!

The table came from inspiration from sites such as Party Perfect and Hostess with the Mostess these blogs are amazing and some of the parties are simply to die for. They are both great sites for getting theme ideas.

Paying attention to all the details certainly makes this table look amazing.  Tiny muffin flags, coordinating colored cupcake wrappers, straw embellishments and labeled jars of candy pull the whole look together.

I love how incredibly clean and pretty this celebration feels.  Using all white plates and tablecloth makes all the goodies take center stage.  A simple pink bird banner adds that little touch of whimsy.  I’m sure this baby shower was a smashing success!

Ahh … Valentine’s Day is almost upon us, a day when lovers swoon, florists are running and everyone is looking for that perfect card.  Despite all the history of the holiday, many of us simply know this as a gift-giving holiday. For years, the traditional gift to give your love was a simple handmade card. Even today, the oldest surviving greeting card on record is a Valentine’s Day card from the 1400s which is on display in a Britain Museum.  We’ve taken the handmade card to the next level with our custom photo cards.

You can create these personalized Valentine’s Day cards with your favorite photo.   Pick your picture, type style, font color and write your own sentiment.  As an added bonus you can have your return address printed on the envelopes.

Nothing makes that special connection like a paper greeting card does.    Give your Valentine a card as unique as they are.

So however you decide to spend this holiday, do it with someone you love.

But remember it’s not always about chocolate, flowers and gifts…….but the card too!

I’m seeing hearts. Yep, lots of red, pink, big, little, polka-dot…you name it…..it’s all about the hearts! I especially love cute unique projects I can create on my own. When I ran across this darling little project for a Valentine I just had to share it with you.  Just Lila is responsible for this sweet piece of art.  You could put it in a window or add to a greeting card for a pretty gift. So easy and yet effective.

Here is what she used:
organdy square
burlap cut to heart
torn toile ribbon
small scrap of red ticking
scrap of torn scrim/cheesecloth
a word (she embroidered hers but you could stamp it or cut from an old card or something)
Dark color sewing thread

Layer and sew together to form an applique, tie a one loop bow with the toile and sew to the heart.

Using a sheer background shows off the heart nicely.

Burlap is definitely a hot decorating item right now. What better way to incorporate it into your Valentine’s Day decor then this. While you’re making one for yourself why not make a few more to surprise the ones you love with. Who wouldn’t adore receiving one of these little beauties. So go get your craft on!

Today I needed a little pick-me-up from the winter blues so I hopped over to Katie’s blog, Running on Happiness. She author’s a style blog where she documents her journey for self-definition. I fell in love with this bright combination she put together. Here’s what she had to say:

We don’t need to be supermodels to know that the world is our cat walk.  And we don’t need super powers to be super women.  Sure, your face may not be on the covers of magazines, and you may not have the ability to read people’s minds, but there is something inside each and every one of us that makes us truly beautiful and wonderful.

The beauty and powers we possess are much more honest and real than anything found in a glossy magazine or a story defined by supernatural heroism.  Like the girl who battles society’s standards of beauty just to feel comfortable in her skin.  Or the mother who is impervious to sleep because she works day and night unconditionally taking care of her baby’s every need.

So today, remember your powers.  And gurrrrrl, don’t forget to strut your thang walking down that sidewalk as if you’ve got cameras flashing.  Throw those shoulders back, keep your head high, and give that booty a little pop as you turn that corner.  Because there is nothing more powerful than confidence.  The the world is watching, and noticing, how super you are.  Just don’t become too super that you refuse to get out of bed for anything less than $10,000 a day, or go all Darth Vader on us.  Because that would so not be cool.

This time of year, I totally dream about outdoor spaces. To me, there’s nothing better than enjoying the outdoors, with a cold lemonade to sip and my favorite magazine to browse.

Lazy days spent on a porch are a summertime treat. Enclosing and decorating your porch can extend your time there as well as make for a more enjoyable experience. Now if money was no object one of these gorgeous porches would be my pick.

White and blue always present that crisp, clean feel.  Add some white wicker furniture, a little yellow to warm the space up and some fresh flowers and who wouldn’t want to spend the whole day on this darling porch.

Who needs a living room if you have a porch this size. Coordinating fabric really pulls this look together.

I could spend a whole day drinking my lemonade and reading magazines on this cozy bright porch.

Oh my, a fireplace would be so cool! I would never want to come inside. I’m sure this more formal outdoor space comes with a higher price tag.

Happily there is hope for my budget. This goes to show you that small can be perfect. All you need is a sweet comfy chair, a basket of fresh flowers and a little table to hold your goodies. I’m thinkin’ my dream porch may come true!

Happy President’s Day!

Many of you are probably out enjoying this day with family and friends. I on the other hand am in the midst of doing some house cleaning and re-organizing. After wandering through some of my favorite blogs I came across this inspirational post from Amy of Home Happy Home and it prompted me to get off my bum and get to work. I love her idea and especially how thrifty it is.  Check it out:

diy underbed storage

I don’t know why but all of my children are pack rats. They have to keep everything! Kid’s menu’s from restaurants, we have them. Thousands of pieces of paper with doodling and drawings, we have them. Candy from Halloween three years ago, sadly we have this too!
Over the weekend I decided my daughter’s room needed some cleaning, purging, and organizing. I wanted to utilize all of the space under her bed without spending any dinero!
I had some cardboard boxes that fit perfectly under her bed and decided to spruce them up with some paint.

The first thing I did was cut the top flaps off of the boxes. I used some leftover paint to paint all sides of the boxes.

I wanted to paint a chevron pattern on some of them so I used a ruler and pencil to mark the lines.
Then I taped off my lines and painted on the white chevron.

Now we have plenty of room for all the miscellaneous items my daughter has. She can easily pull them in and out to access her things. Not to mention how excited I get when I finish a free project!

OK ladies, time to round up some empty cardboard boxes and get to work!

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner I am feeling the green influence. Did you know that green is considered the most restful color to the eye, and of all the colors, green is the one in which the human eye distinguishes the widest range of shades. It has a calming effect and balances the nervous system. Green color is soothing, relaxing mentally as well as physically. No wonder I am feeling the need for green!

The color’s infinite variations blend easily with every other hue.

You might fancy going for something with a fresh feel, to make you or your room feel bright, cheerful and spring-like. So if you are needing a green pick=me=up choose fresh tones, in pale to mid shades, to keep it bright and breezy. Or just hang out by the green apples in the grocery store, lay in your grass or eat some green jelly beans!

You may think I’m talking about spring weather…but I’m not! I don’t know about you, but it seems the world has gone BABY CRAZY!  Lately, everywhere I turn I see a baby or a pregnant woman. But you know what – it warms my heart. The promise and excitement of new life is always something to celebrate. Something to cherish.

Now, we all know that baby showers are pretty standard fare when a woman is about to become a mommy. But have you heard of a baby sprinkle? A baby sprinkle is like a “step below” a baby shower. The mommy can gather with her absolute closest friends and family and celebrate the soon-to-be arrival of her newborn bundle of joy. Baby sprinkles are for women who are becoming a mom for the second (or third!) time around.

What makes a good baby sprinkle gift? The once-again mommy can always use items such as diapers, formula (if so chosen), baby food, and bath products. Another great idea would be a massage gift certificate, a day at the spa, a simple facial or manicure, or baby sitting “coupons.” Think simple date night away from hectic daily life. Being a mom is hard!

Since a baby sprinkle isn’t a full blown baby shower, some choose not to go all out when inviting guests, selecting decor, food, and entertainment. Some still play games and have super cute inexpensive baby sprinkle favors.

But if your mantra is “Go Big or Go Home”, by all means…GO FOR IT!  Create fancy invitations (we know of a fabulous online store who can hook you up!), delish food, and great decor.

Happy Sprinkling!

I glanced at my calendar this morning and realized the first official day of spring is rapidly approaching.  To some that may mean colorful flowers, warmer weather, or even the beginning of baseball season.  But to others, “spring” conjures up images of dustpans, mops, and brooms…while we’re at it, throw in some closet organizers, playroom storage, and shoe racks.  That’s right, my friends – spring cleaning is upon us.

Wikipedia defines spring cleaning as the practice of thoroughly cleaning a house in the springtime.  The practice of spring cleaning is especially prevalent in climates with a cold winter.  The most common usage of spring cleaning refers to the yearly act of cleaning a house from top to bottom which would take place in the first warm days of the year typically in spring, hence the name.  However it has also come to be synonymous with any kind of heavy duty cleaning or organizing enterprise.

The mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming is pretty darn boring so let’s talk about the F-U-N stuff…genius organizing ideas.  Like millions of others (you’re probably included) I’ve become Pinterest obsessed.  Here are a few of my fave organizing tips and ideas that I have come across.

There ya have it ladies…I hope this inspired you to get organized!! Share with us some of your genius organizing ideas…we’d love to hear ‘em!

It’s no secret that everybody wants to be trendy, stylish, and on-par with the latest fashions. What is ALL over the runways this season??? Color-blocking, of course! Now I realize it may be a little intimidating to tackle trendy fashion – you may think, “That looks amazing on her but I could never pull it off.” You know those thoughts have crossed your mind…I know they’ve crossed my mind. But when I come across a trend that I really want to give a shot, I search for ways to make it work for me. And naturally, I want to share my findings with you!

I came across a post from The Budget Fashionista that fits the bill, to a tee (no pun intended)…here’s what she had to say.

The hottest trend of the spring/summer season is color-blocking, and personally, we couldn’t be more thrilled. The spring 2012 runways exploded with vibrant hues that were avant garde, playful, and impossible to ignore both for their brightness and their prominence across designers and retailers.

The color-block look is far from new, but it’s back with such a bang that you don’t want to ignore it this year. There are lots of ways to make it work for you–some easier than others–so let’s take some time to examine the best ways to color-block your summer looks.

Cheat. You’ll look like a fashion genius without putting any thought into it if you simply buy a color-blocked dress. Pick one that works for your skin tone and personal style- and make sure all the colors flatter, not just one or two.

Pair separates. When it comes to color-blocking with separates, the easiest way is to pair a bright hue with a nude hue. Once you’ve gotten the hang of it, you can try to pair two bold colors, but we suggest starting with one bright piece and one neutral toned piece.

Up the Ante. Once you’ve got your main hues represented in your outfit, take color-blocking to the next level with accessories. If you’ve got a deep-hued top, skirt or dress, pair it with bright accessories and vice-versa. A bright yellow top looks great with cobalt blue bracelets, and a deep purple skirt pairs nicely with brightly colored shoes.

Opposites attract. There are a few things to remember when it comes to color-blocking with the right colors. Make sure you only have one neon color. While it’s totally okay to rock three bold colors, only one of them should be super bright. We like this formula: one bright, one bold, one neutral.

Also, remember that neutral doesn’t have to mean nude. Use white, grey, brown and black to hold your outfit together. And an easy way to make sure you get the trend right, even without a neutral? Stick with different hues of the same color. Sky blue, cobalt and navy look great, while pale pink, bright pink and fuchsia do as well.

Having a tough time figuring out what to pair with what?

Here are some more hues that go great together:

1. Cobalt Blue, Yellow, Orange

2. Chocolate Brown, Pink, Peach

3. Purple, Bright Blue, Teal

4. Deep Blue, Bright Pink, White

5. Coral, Grey, Ivory

Isn’t that all wonderful advice? And don’t  you want to go shopping…like, right now!? I know I do…see you at the mall!

…is so last season! Picture this – Sicily, 1947 (sorry, my Golden Girls affection crept in there for a second).

Picture this – you’re at a bar, a nightclub, a networking function, your son’s soccer game, Nordstrom, wherever. And you meet someone that you’d like to see again – an attractive member of the opposite sex, a potential girlfriend to share margaritas with, a business lead, or a fellow parent of an unruly toddler you can commiserate with. You’d like to exchange info with this person, but how? Not long ago, your only options would have been to scrounge in your bag for a scrap piece of paper and a pen, or ask the bartender for a napkin. Or, as a last resort, scribble the information down with eyeliner or lipliner! Not anymore, my friends, not anymore…

Adult Calling Cards – an ingenious idea! They are available in a variety of styles, colors, and designs. You’ll be sure to find one that suits your personality perfectly. Use them as calling cards, networking cards, small notes, gift enclosure cards, favor gift tags, book plates, or belonging markers. The possibilities are truly endless. And they make great gifts for the impossible-to-buy-for. And we ALL have someone like that in our lives!

And think about how sophisticated and refined you’ll feel pulling on of these gems out and smoothly handing it over to your new friend! Explore the possibilities here.

Let’s face it – we all lead stressful, busy, and hectic lives. Work, kids, spouse, laundry, errands, cleaning, the list goes on and on…and on. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a spa of our very own right at home? What a heavenly retreat! Well, I’ve found 9easy ways to create a spa at home – without construction, remodeling, or high-costs. Bliss.

Make it rain - Turn your existing shower into a luxurious spa with a relaxing rain shower-head. Convert your standard fixed shower head into a spa shower — normally in less than 60 minutes and without the need to open the wall cavity. You can customize your shower experience by choosing from a selection of rain-head and hand-shower fixtures.

Turn up the heat - The next time you step out of the bath or shower, wrap yourself in a heated towel. There are several wall-mounted options, which offer easy installation for any bath and is one spalike amenity that the whole family will enjoy. The warming bars quickly, safely and evenly distribute heat to towels, robes or blankets. Wrap yourself in warmth!

Bring nature inside - Nothing is more evocative of the spa aesthetic than natural materials such as teak, bamboo and stone. If you love the look of river-rock flooring but not the cost, there is an inexpensive solution. Bring a stone mat into your home spa. Each stone mat is unique and wonderfully tactile underfoot. Mats are typically available in several natural stone colors: black, ochre, white and multi-colored.

Go Turkish? - A simple upgrade of your bath towels can impart the plush luxuries of a spa experience every time you step out of the tub or shower. Made of 100% cotton, Turkish towels are fluffy, supersoft and fast-drying — the perfect home spa amenity. Many assorted colors are available – you’re sure to find one (or several) matching your personal spa decor.

Create a mood – It’s no secret that the spa experience is all about creating a mood: one that soothes the senses and promotes well-being. One of the easiest ways to create that ambiance is with the soft, flickering glow of candlelight. Cluster candles on the vanity or window ledge or around the tub for a long, stress-relieving soak. Choose varieties that are infused with a relaxing scent, such as lavender, sandalwood and ylang ylang — all known to help in countering stress, anxiety and fatigue, and in fostering calm.

Enlist a caddy – There’s not just for golf! Few things are as relaxing — or spa-indulgent — as a nice, long soak in the tub. Bringing in a nice, wood tub caddy makes the soak that much more enjoyable. One provides a convenient place to set a book, a cup of tea or a glass of wine. And really, who doesn’t enjoy a nice glass of wine while relaxing after a long, hard day?

Listen to your playlist - The spa is all about pleasing the senses, and music plays an important part in that equation. Bringing in your custom playlist will only enhance your relaxation and add to the mood you’ve created.

Invigorate your soak - For just pennies a day, you can enjoy the rituals of a spa simply by adding natural, organic salts to your bath. Aromatic blends are designed to refresh, soothe and relax. A good of mine shared with me today that her favorite flower is tulips. They really are beautiful and so perfect for spring.

This time of year you can find towns across the country (and probably the world) celebrating the classic spring flower. In Holland (yes, that’s the real name of the town), Michigan their annual celebration of Dutch heritage and culture is a multi-generational event that has something for everyone. Three amazing parades, traditional Dutch Dance performances, concerts, theatre, Dutch attractions, Dutch food, children’s events, Tulip City Tours and so much more!

In Skagit, Washington the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Fesitval (held each year from April 1-30)  is one of the destination events for the Pacific Northwest. Every spring hundreds of thousands of people come to enjoy the celebration of spring as millions of tulips burst into bloom. As with all things governed by Mother Nature, the tulips bloom according to their own schedule sometime during the festival. The tulips allow the town to share their corner of the world and helps to showcase Skagit Valley agriculture.

Teleflora tells us that tulips are originally from Persia and Turkey. Different tulip colors carry distinct meanings  - yellow symbolize cheerful thoughts, white is for forgiveness, and purple represents royalty. Red tulips are the most special…meaning “perfect love.” The 11th wedding anniversary flower, it is said that the tulip’s velvety black center represents a lover’s heart, darkened by the heat of passion. Rivals the red rose as most romantic flower, doesn’t it? A tulip bouquet, of any color, represents elegance and grace. Just like YOU – our Modern Posh readers and clients.

Are you a gardener? Perhaps you would like to consider adding some bright colorful tulips to your garden this season. If so, you’ll need some tips.  Never fear, Gardener’s Paradise is here! Tulips are classified with perennials but often need to be treated as annuals. Dig up your tulips once the foliage has died and store them in a cool dry area for replanting in the fall. Tulips need well drained soil. To improve drainage add sand and compost to your soil. Tulips enjoy full sun.

  1. Sandy soil is best to increase and flower in later years.
  2. Good drainage is essential.
  3. As a rule of thumb, the depth tulips should be planted is approximately 3x the length of the bulb.
  4. Tulips make excellent cut flowers and usually last about a week in a vase.
  5. Don’t forget to add a little sugar in the water to prolong the life of your bouquet.

With all the talk of spring, new season, warmer weather, bright colors, and outdoor play how fun is it to add some tulips to your spring decor, wardrobe, table decorations for a party, or landscape? Very modern. Very posh.

A Tango, perhaps? The Tangerine Tango, specifically. Not only is it a dance…it’s a color. A very bright and bold color that holds the honor of being named Pantone’s 2012 Color of the Year (Pantone 17-1463). Chosen because of its “sophisticated and dramatic undertones,” Tangerine Tango is a continuation of last year’s winner, Honeysuckle (Pantone 18-2120). The 2011 winner was said to be “inspiration to face life’s everyday troubles with verve and vigor,” with Tangerine Tango building off of that by giving an “energy charge” to move forward. Pretty dramatic language, but these people takes their colors seriously.

And so do we…but in a more fun, lighthearted way!

Celebrities are always on the cusp of the latest trends – Tangerine Tango for everybody!

You’ll find it everywhere in the latest home decor trends, naturally.

Fashion and make-up? Of course!

Lifestyle pieces and gift items…you betcha!

Is the Tangerine Tango a bit too bold, bright, or ELECTRIC for you? Never fear, it can be toned down with just the right touches. You just have to know where to start…

A splash of color can make a big impact!  For instance, in this dining room, the strips of orange next to the khaki and white really make the orange pop.

Dining room with orange, white and khaki

This little girl’s room has white walls and furniture causing the orange and pink to have a high impact on this room. It looks fun and playful.

Girl's room

On the flip, orange and blue are also a great combination. This little boy’s room is almost completely opposite of little girl’s room above, yet is just as awesome.  With dark walls, furniture and floors, the orange brightens up the décor.

Boy's room

This sitting area is playing with the idea of color. The blue-grey cabinet, with the orange interior is quite lovely and ties together nicely with the orange chair. I also like the idea of living color, so the light orange flowers are a nice touch

Sitting Area

I absolutely love this bathroom. The dark brown with the orange makes a bold statement and is softened by the mosaic tile.

So GO FOR IT! Get your Tangerine Tango on! How will you use it? Where will you showcase this POP of brightness in your home? Share with us!

In much of the country the weather is heating up, temperatures are rising, and people are itching to get outdoors.  I can’t help but think of what it’ll be like to lounge in (or by) the pool during the hot summer months.  Wouldn’t it be incredible if you could enjoy some of these gorgeous outdoor spaces?

Many people consider their backyards an extension of their indoor living space.  Wouldn’t you if your backyard looked like this?

Look at these amazing outdoor kitchens!  I would venture to guess these might be nicer than some INDOOR kitchens!  WOW!

Even during the summer, the nights can get chilly – cozy up to the firepit and make some S’Mores…they bring out the kid in all of us!

Whatever you’re doing outdoors this season, be sure to do it with style, flair, and passion.

We, here at Modern Posh Design, take great pride in our work. So when someone very well-respected within the industry gives us a pat on the back, we tend to beam with pride. We had the privilege of designing a holiday card for none other than Sarah Schwartz, editor of Stationery Trends Magazine. She was kind enough to write this testimonial.

This has been the second year that Julie did our holiday cards, and I can hardly put into words how thrilled we’ve been with the results both times. Last year’s output — based around a photo of my daughter sitting in front of our rhododendron trees — was incredible, and I honestly thought it would be impossible to top. How happy I was to be proven wrong — this year’s is even more amazing! All I did was tell Julie that I’m currently obsessed with chevron stripes and sent her a few photos — and she created this amazing tri-fold that knocks the socks off of everyone who sees it! She really transcends the whole holiday missive to create something truly unforgettable that is so much more. We get so many compliments on it — perhaps the best one received so far was from friends of ours that said they preferred ours to the one they got from the president! I am *almost* embarrassed to get these types of responses from friends & family!

Can you see us beaming from where you are? It was such an honor to work with Sarah and we are thrilled to have had the opportunity. Here is the holiday card we designed for her and her sweet family.

As if that weren’t enough to get us all giddy, Sarah also featured a piece of our work in a recent List Topping Trends article she penned for the Paper Clips Newsletter section of the National Stationery Show website. Here is an excerpt. Be sure to check out the whole article here.

Rainbows. Quiet since the 1980s, rainbows have been reborn in a big way, and may be just the sunny tonic a recession- or depression-addled nation is seeking. Updated for today’s aesthetics, they have been rethought and reinterpreted, appearing on everything from cake layers to … you guessed it, chevron stripes.

We are so excited for the upcoming National Stationery Show, May 20-23, in New York City. We look forward to it each and every year! We’d be ever-so-pleased if you stopped by and visited us at Booth #2815. We’d love to see you!

The National Stationery Show is right around the corner – only a few short days away! We’re simply giddy with excitement and can’t wait to get there! Not only do we have fabulous new product to introduce, but we’re also working on updating our websites and are almost ready to launch a whole new catalog. Yes, we’ve been B-U-S-Y!

Here is a sneak peek at some of our fantastic new product – we are in LOVE!

The colors pop so beautifully on these pieces!

Elegant, beautiful, and sophisticated.

Don’t you love the new patterns and color combinations!?

A little inspiration is always a good thing.

Creating the invitation is half the fun of the party, right!?

Be creative – think outside the box – get coordinated.

If you’re going to be at NSS, please be sure to visit us at Booth #2815. We’d love the chance to chat with you!

NYC – here we come!

We’re back from NSS, exhausted and overwhelmed – but omigoodness, what a FANTASTIC experience! We can’t wait to share everything with you, but while we’re decompressing and getting re-organized here’s a little something very timely for this time of year. It’s definitely time to get our tan on!

Self Tanner: Top 10 Self Tanners on the Market (according to About.com Style & Beauty Guide Julyne Derrick) based on tester and expert reviews.

Guerlain’s Terracotta Self-Tanning Spray for the Body

At $35 – $50 it’s one of the best spray tanners on the market. Testers overall found it dried very quickly, overall color was very natural (a brown rather than orange and the tan deepened as the hours went on), and the smell factor was average like most self-tanners. One con is the price – it is not a cheap option.

L’Oreal Sublime Glow for the Body

This is a great, inexpensive gradual tanner. Testers found it best to apply product over the course of a couple days so the tan could gradually grow darker. Apply after you exfoliate in the shower and apply a thin layer of moisturizer. Overall, testers loved the shimmer it leaves behind and the price. One con is the product tends to be runny and many testers would have preferred a pump. Still, this is a quality self-tanner for the money. $10

Laura Mercier Bronzing Gel for the Face

Unlike other self-tanners, Laura Mercier’s bronzing gel is meant to be used to enhance the tan on the face. The company suggests dabbing a bit on AFTER tinted moisturizer and BEFORE powders. A bit pricier other bronzers on the market, testers found it’s well worth the price. This bronzer provides a “just tanned” look with a touch of rose. Warms the skin and adds a spark of shimmer. $32.

Jergens Natural Glow

This is the favorite of many who have tried dozens of other options. People love that it’s gradual because one-application self-tanners tend to streak on the pale and fair-skinned. Use this daily after the shower and enjoy a gradual, natural tanned look. Jergens is only $4.

Decleor Self Tanning Milk and Gels for Body and Face

You’ll find Decleor products to be one of the best and least pungent self tanners you’ll try. Testers found the product to be almost perfect: Hydrating, non-streaking, natural, no orange color and with a bit of shimmer. Like all self-tanners, Decleor products do smell. The tanning agents are 100 percent organic and are suitable for face as well as body. And they even have a bit of SPF! $36

St. Tropez Whipped Bronze Self-Tanning Mousse for Face & Body

This salon brand is a celeb fave. You apply this and within a few hours you’ll have a deep, naturally-looking tan. This is not a gradual self-tanner. Because the product is fast-acting and dries fast, testers recommend using the pad that St. Tropez makes for their self-tanners. St. Tropez’s website even features applications videos.  Whipped Bronze has a more pleasant fragrance than other self-tanners. Ideal for the entire body, including the face. $40

Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanner for Face

The highest rated and most loved Clarins self-tanner on Makeupalley.com. Reviewers raved about ease of use, didn’t complain about the smell and said the product worked great on oily skin. $32

Neutrogena Sun Fresh Sunless Foam

For an inexpensive self-tanner for the body, this product doesn’t streak, dries quickly and allows for a buildable tan. If you have darker skin, you should opt for the medium/deep product because you may not notice a tan if you opt for the fair/medium. $9

GlowFusion Natural Protein Tan Spray for Body & Face

This is Julyne’s self-tanner of choice at the moment. She discovered it at Sephora a couple years ago and while it does smell and it dries quickly, the tan looks incredibly natural. $40 and up

Hawaiian Tropic Firming Island Glow Daily Moisturizer

A gradual tanner for the body and you can’t beat the price. Makeupalley.com users love this product and it compares favorably to Jergens self-tanner, which some people complain smells. $7 on up

So, there ya have it! The best self-tanners on the market – now go get your tan on! Chat back with us and let us know your favorite! Which one worked best for you, which would you recommend to your BFF? We wanna know!

Whew! We’re home, settled, and getting back to reality after our fabulous time in NYC for the National Stationery Show 2012. WHAT.A.TRIP.

Didn’t our booth look amazing!?!  Look!!

NSS was the perfect time for us to introduce some of our new collection. We’re so proud and hope you love them too!

This one was even recognized as a nominee at the 24th Annual LOUIE Awards presented Sunday, May 20th. We didn’t take home the crown, but it is still a HUGE honor to be nominated. Thank you to the Greeting Card Association for considering us for the award.

We of course loved seeing all of our clients and new retailers, our vendors as well as some other great designers and friends. We loved what we saw from Anna Griffin and Lifeguard Press. Did you know Lifeguard Press carries Lilly Pulitzer and Jonathan Adler!?

We were overwhelmingly thrilled with the great response we got to Clean Couture. The excitement continues to build surrounding the launch of this wonderful line!

SUMMER IS HERE! Bright colors, hotter temps, beach vacations, BBQ’s, outdoor parties, and succulent refreshing seasonal fruit.

Sure, fresh summer fruits are delicious on their own. But they can taste even better when they’re part of a seasonal meal. We found some fantastic recipes using some of summer’s best crop — plums, peaches, apricots, berries, and melon — in dishes you can enjoy all day long.

Breakfast Bread Pudding with Peaches and Vanilla-Buttermilk Syrup

A new brunch favorite! Instead of the usual French toast or pancakes, try this bread pudding with fresh peaches to start your day.

Skillet-Roasted Apricots and Blackberries

Warm skillet-roasted fruit is a satisfying dessert that’s only made better à la mode.

Plum Chutney

This fresh summer chutney can be served with grilled sausages, pork chops, charcuterie, or cheese. If you prefer a smoother chutney, cut the plums into smaller pieces at the beginning.

Sugar-Crusted Pecan Shortcakes with Peaches and Raspberries

This fresh summer dessert combines juicy stone fruit and berries and nutty pecan shortcakes.

Grilled Cornmeal Flatbreads with Peaches, Serrano Ham, and Spicy Greens

These tasty flatbreads are topped with ham, cheese, peaches, and a delicious almond topping.

Blueberry Brain-Boost Smoothie

Recent studies show that the powerful antioxidants and phytochemicals in blueberries may improve cognitive function. Paired with walnuts, they make a blueberry smoothie that tops the antioxidant chart.

Watermelon Aqua Fresca Smoothie

Traditionally, authentic agua frescas are made without blenders by simply mashing fruit with a fork or masher before adding water. We like using a blender for an ultra-light, refreshing rendition of this traditional Mexican drink.

Inspired yet? We hope so! Go on…run to your farmers’ market and pick up some yummy summer fruit. A world of deliciousness awaits!

There’s something so special about getting a hand-written letter or card in the mail. And when you’re a kid away at summer camp, that’s never been more true. They love receiving and sending letters to their friends, family, and siblings back home. Why not make it extra fun for them by giving them their very own personalized stationery??

There are so many darling patterns and designs to choose from. Surely, you’ll find one that’s perfect for the little camper in your life.

And when the summer is over, camp is behind them, and they’re ready for back-to-school these personalized note cards still have plenty of life left in them. Have your kids write letters to their camp friends, keep in touch with Grandma & Grandpa, write a nice thank-you note to a kind gift-giver. Keep hand-written sentiments alive in your children. One day, they’ll thank you. Perhaps on a piece of grown-up stationery they picked out all on their own.

Louis Vuitton’s new Shanghai super-store opened this past weekend and, suffice it to say, it is beyond anything we’ve ever seen or could dream of! The four-story mecca of leather goods has 100 employees and features the usual Louis Vuitton items we know and love, plus made-to-order cases for tea sets (love!) and mahjong tile carrying cases. There’s also a gilded spiral staircase and a private floor complete with a hair salon! Check it out!

Have you picked your jaw up off the floor yet? We told you it was OVER THE TOP! Now who is on the phone with their travel agent booking their next trip to Shanghai?!

Do you use “Google” as a verb? You know, as in “I don’t know what that means, I’ll Google it later.” Well, I know for a fact that I do. And recently I caught myself using “You Tube” as a verb. Someone asked if I saw the video of the US Olympic swim teams singing along to Call Me Maybe. My response…”No, but I’ll You Tube it tonight.” See – verbs.

Speaking of You Tube, have you seen our Modern Posh video?

Modern Posh Couture on Paper

Let us know what you think!

Okay, I’ll admit it – I was maybe a wee bit excited to see the Spice Girls reunion during the closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics last night. Were you? Never thought you’d see all the Spice Girls together on stage at the same time again? Posh, Ginger, Baby, Sporty and Scary gave us what we wanted … what we really, really wanted.

Star-studded reunion

Come on, don’t make me succumb my guilty pleasure alone. The all-girl band, Spice Girls, was all the rage back in the late 90′s. Surely you remember their boisterous arrival onto the music scene, their loud fashion choices, catchy tunes, and those sky-high platform shoes!

Th

The reunion got me thinking…what are some of the other most popular all-girl bands in recent times?

The Runaways – The Runaways were once ahead of their time, as only young teenagers can be. They probably thought life was going to be easy when they started. Be a band, become famous and watch the money roll in. Joan Jett is one tough cookie and someone who knows it takes persistence, hard work and dedication beyond just telling people you love rock ‘n’ roll. You gotta live it.

The Bangles - It’s a shame they had their bigger hits with a tune by Prince and a Simon and Garfunkel cover, since they wrote some nifty stuff on their own and their debut album All Over The Place was a sweet little pop album. Eventually their lives got in the way and they broke up the band. But they still reunite from time to time and even made an album that was pretty good that no one paid attention to.

The Go-Go’s - They had the beat. Their lips were sealed. They went on vacation. Another case of where if they’d been able to keep it together for longer who knows what could’ve been? Then again, the industry changes on a fickle dime and maybe it was a good idea for Belinda Carlisle to go solo. Well, it was for Belinda.

Heart - Imagine the abuse these Wilson sisters must’ve suffered. The 1970s? Hard rock? Are you kidding me? They’re lucky they didn’t wake up with a shark tied between their legs. Those were “different times” and playing arena-styled rock put you in direct contact with the very people who were determined to keep you down. Their sound may have gone soft and dreamy in spots, but these young ladies were what Springsteen would call “Tougher than the rest.”

Hole - You could say Courtney Love really dug herself into a hole. Has anyone ever come so close to massive rock success only to almost single-handedly trash it? Well, there was her husband who decided life wasn’t worth living. So, kids, be careful who you surround yourself with! Those other kids your parents are warning you about? They might have a point after all.

Indigo Girls - The Indigo Girls inspired a generation of young women to pick up their acoustic guitars and sing harmony, unison, whatever they felt. And while lots of people think the proliferation of folk music isn’t always a good thing, I’ve always found it easier on the ears than the full-out stadium rock assault and every bit as powerful when in that mood.

Tell us what you really, really think? Did I leave your favorite off this impromptu list? Who do you rock out to in the car, at the gym, while cooking dinner? And we’re all friends here, you can tell me if it’s the Spice Girls!

The summer is almost over…Labor Day is THIS weekend and the kids are back in school. Did you blink? Crazy, right!? Soon, we’ll be talking about Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving turkey, and Christmas morning eggnog. But for now, Labor Day…

Old tradition would tell you to pack away your white – your white pants, shorts, skirts, shoes, shirts, accessories. Only “winter white” is suitable for after Labor Day, right? WRONG! Where did that silly “rule” come from, anyway? You may be surprised to find out that it actually has historical roots. Ya learn something new everyday!

Whether or not you choose to pack away the white or keep it out, chances are you’ll be heading towards a Labor Day BBQ of some sort this weekend. What to eat? Perhaps, your plate will look a little something like this.

Labor Day Fun

Perhaps your outfit could resemble this.

Labor Day...

I’d venture to guess they’ll be a whole lot of RED, WHITE, and BLUE! Kinda like this…

Labor day

Regardless of how you celebrate Labor Day and what “labor” means to you, you’ll do well to keep this in mind…

Labor Day

Labor Day

Happy Labor Day!

And you know what that means! FALL FASHION! We love fall around here…the crisp cool air, the hint of pumpkin spice seemingly everywhere, we get to wear sweaters, scarves, and boots. I’ll admit it, fall makes me simply giddy with glee!

Let’s talk fashion though – because really, it’s just so fun! Check out some of the top trending looks on Pinterest. Couldn’t you just run out shopping right this very second to get these looks and stockpile them away in your closet!? Maybe I’ll run into you at the mall…

Fall ...:)

fall

fall

Fall

Remember, fall fashion doesn’t have to be boring drab or colorless. Spice it up – introduce color – accessorize your look with fab jewelry – most importantly, have FUN with your fall fashion!

I don’t know what it is but as soon as September arrives, I’m in total “fall” mode – colors, recipes, football…and I even find myself wanting to break out sweaters, boots, and jackets. Let’s not discuss the fact in some areas of the country the temps are still in the high 90′s, even triple digits. But I don’t care – pumpkins, spices, hayrides, gingerbread, warm apple pie – it’s all I can think about!

So, when I found this delish recipe from A Kitchen Addiction for Pumpkin Bread with Salted Caramel Drizzled Pumpkin Buttercream my heart skipped a beat. I could eat the whole loaf!

Have you ever tasted apple butter? I had the pleasure recently, and I have to say, I’m a fan. So I went looking for a recipe. YUM!!

CrockPot Apple Butter

Crock Pot Apple Butter

Makes a little more than 1 pint

1 dozen apples, peeled, cored, cubed

1/2 Cup Water

1/4 Cup Brown Sugar

1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon All Spice

Peel, core, and chop a dozen apples. Toss the apples in the sugar and spices. Put everything in the Crockpot, cook on low overnight. After a few more hours on low, bump it to high and prop the lid. It will cook down and thicken quite a bit. This is optional, but I’m a smooth butter – rather than chunky – kind of girl, so blend the butter down. Finally, pour into clean canning jars.

Who’s ready for fall??

Who ever said that only kids could have fun, special, custom birthday party invitations?? Here at Modern Posh we believe everybody – including adults – should have super cool invitations.  Like these…

Be creative – let loose – PARTY! Select from our wide array of invitations for adult birthdays. Such bright colors – many cool patterns – fun designs!

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for fun and interesting ways to add personal touches to my home decor. Anytime I have the opportunity to bring in something custom and truly unique I jump at the chance. So when I came across this little gem from The Glam Lamb on Pinterest I just HAD to share…

Take something you really love – a letter, envelope, photograph, a ticket stub… anything, really – and take it to a printing place like Kinko’s and have them blow it up to large scale. Voila! Instant art. Brilliant. An old recipe from Grandma would be great for the kitchen!

Think about all the fun you could have with this – in so many different rooms of your home. Kids’ rooms, kitchen, playroom, office, living room…the possibilities are endless.

Our homes are more personalized than ever before. Gone are the days of being guided by labels such as living room, dining room, and den. Today’s design is dictated by the way we live, not someone else’s notion of what a space should or shouldn’t be. This creates the perfect potential for a spare space to be transformed into a theme or hobby room.

A few tips to keep in mind while creating your hobby room…

To get the biggest bang for your buck, consider a multipurpose space that can accommodate the favorite pastimes of more than one person.

Don’t feel the need to do everything right away. For instance, a game room can develop over time to fit your budget.

Make sure you incorporate enough storage to support your needs. A media room will need cabinets for equipment, while a library requires sturdy shelving for books.

Try to avoid anything too trendy or you might soon tire of your special getaway. Instead of bold paint colors, opt for bright accent pieces.

Some hobbies are messier than others, such as art and craft projects. In this case, select a space that allows you to hide everything behind closed doors.

Whatever you decide, keep in mind that our lifestyles are bound to change over time. That’s the beauty of a theme or hobby room. It can provide a cherished refuge that reflects your current interests, and it can easily be tweaked to suit future pursuits as the need arises.

What kind of crafts and hobbies are popular in your home? Do you have a special place to create? Share with us!

The New Jean – Beyond Blue Denim…The evolution of the beloved blue jean continues: The newest and trendiest denim is clad in gorgeous saturated colors, luxe finishes and a riot of pretty patterns. We found some of the hottest pairs to wear.

Indigo hues aren’t going anywhere, but the freshest take on jeans sees bold colors taking center stage. Rocker-chic detailing and super-glam surfaces mean jeans work as well after dark as in the daytime, while skinny and slouchy silhouettes vie for the year’s fave shape.

Colors and Prints: Visible Change

The quickest and easiest way to refresh your jeans wardrobe is with a hit of extroverted color. Try dusty rose, moss green, terracotta or deep maroon. Gotta go blue? Make it a vivid azure. Or take on the neutral trend in rust- or clay-colored denim.

For date night, dancing, weekend dazzle skip the understated hues and dare to shine. Metallics are a huge trend, and skinny jeans gleam with gold, silver and bronze.

Antique floral patterns, brocade and paisley skew retro, animal and reptile designs look classic, and digital and optical prints shout “couture”.

Finishes and Textures: The New Feel

Remember distressed jeans? They’re baaaaack, and this time they’re called “destroyed”. Sometimes the destruction is subtle, with frayed hems finishing otherwise sleek pairs, while other jeans are totally shredded.

Night-right pairs sparkle with sequins, studs and beading, or go supercool with metallic burnout or stamped designs.

ESSENTIALS WOMENS SEQUIN TUXEDO SEXY JEAN Blue

A massive trend this year, skinny leather jeans are the skin to be in.

So which style of bold non-blue jeans are you going to rock this season? Whichever you choose, we know you’ll show your fabulous to the world!

Being in the stationery business we, of course, love all things paper. There are so many neat and fun things that can be done with simple paper. But the end result looks anything but simple…

Look how much fun you can have with basic office and craft supplies, some fantastic paper, embellishments, and your imagination!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Giant Paper Clips
Designer Paper
Cardstock
Adhesive/Glue
Punches
Markers
Small Stamps
Stickers
Ribbons
Buttons

Step 1: Gather supplies of your choice, including a few giant paperclips.
Step 2: Punch out some shapes, get stickers ready.
Step 3: Using your Glue, Tape, or Pop Up glue dots adhere the front and back pieces of card stock to the top of the paperclip, creating a great little area to embellish as you desire.

So there you go…very quick and simple!!

Did you catch the embellished paper “bug”? Want me DIY project ideas? How’s this? Paper Embellished Clothes Pins!

What you’ll need:
Clothes pins
Mod Podge
Small paint brush
Scraps of patterned paper
Xacto knife
Ruler
1) Measure out the width of your clothes pins and using your ruler and your Xacto knife, cut out strips from the different papers.
2) To get the proper length, place a strip on the table with the clothes pin over top of it. Slice the strip of paper where the clothes pin ends.
3) Using the paint brush, brush on a bit of Mod Podge on one flat side of the clothes pin.
4) Place the paper strip on the glued section and smooth out.
5) Repeat on other side if desired.
6) Wait until it dries and you’re ready to use them!
Feel free to go wild decorating these. Hot glue buttons, ribbon, magnets, etc to them. The sky’s the limit so be creative!!
This is a fun and interesting way to display some of the numerous photos we all have lying around not in frames or on our walls.  Kick it up a notch (Emeril sytle) and extend some ribbon or twine along the wall and use clothes pins to fasten pictures to it. Genius!

So Hanukkah 2012 started a few days ago but for all of our Jewish friends, we thought it would be fun to share some quick and easy ideas for Hanukkah treats.  The kids (and adults) will love ‘em! And of course one not need to be Jewish to partake in the yummy Hanukkah goodness!

Marshmellow Dreidels

Candy Dreidels for Hanukkah #hanukkah #candydreidels

All you need is marshmellows, pretzel sticks, blue sugar, and some Hershey’s kisses. So easy and fun!

Chocolate Dreidels

Chocolate Dreidels....Hanukkah treats are created from chocolate kisses, marshmallows, pretzel sticks, and melted semisweet and white chocolate. These delicious Hanukkah treats are created from Hershey’s kisses, marshmallows, pretzel sticks, and melted semisweet and white chocolate.

Cupcake Menorah

twix candy bars with mms on top = candle on a cupcake.

This yummy Hanukkah menorah is so simple! Cupcakes (homemade or store bought, whichever you choose), Twix candy bars, and Peanut M&M’s on top for the candle flame.

Happy Hanukkah!

Stay tuned next week for delicious Christmas treats…

As promised last week, when we shared some delicious and simple Hanukkah treat ideas, here are some fabulous and tasty Christmas treats for you to make this year with your family. Enjoy!

Hot Chocolate Dippers

chocolate dipped candy canes - hot chocolate stirrers

This one could not be simpler! Dip candy canes in melted chocolate (dark, milk, or even white!), then drizzle with white (or milk) chocolate for added pizzazz. If you choose to get fancy, you could even add a mini marshmellow or two!

Brownie Christmas Trees

Creative Christmas Food Design 1 Unusual food for the holiday table. Browse creatively decorated with Christmas dishes

Cut brownies into triangles, add a thin candy cane as the trunk, decorate with icing and Red Hots – or any candy of your choosing.  Simple, fun, and festive!

Marshmellow Reindeer

For these adorable bites of deliciousness, you’ll need a few more ingredients…large marshmellows, lollipop/popsicle/ or pretzel sticks, ribbon, melting chocolate, cinnamon candy, small pretzels, candied pearls (or other candies) for the eyes.

It’s a tad more labor intensive than the other treats I’ve shared with you, so here are directions…

Break the pretzels in half, you’ll need two halves for each reindeer’s antlers. Count out your cinnamon candies, score the tops of the marshmellows (for the pretzels) and put them on the sticks. Once your assembly line is set, it’s time to melt your chocolate.

Place chocolate melts or chocolate chips in a microwaveable glass bowl. Microwave on high at 20-30 second intervals, stirring each time until chocolate is just melted, but not too hot. Dip a marshmallow into the chocolate, covering it entirely. Use the backside of a spoon to smooth out the side and top, and to remove any excess. Repeat the process on the next marshmallow.

After about five or six marshmallows, add the pretzel antlers, by gently inserting them into the scored parts of the marshmallows, and hold them for a few seconds to make sure they are secure. This might take some practice, so be patient!

For the nose and eyes, you can either add them when the chocolate is still wet, or finish the whole batch, then dab some melted chocolate onto each piece and attach it to the marshmallow to make the face.

Once they are completely dry, tie a small piece of ribbon around the stick like a scarf. Ta da – so very cute!!

Merry Christmas! Enjoy your delicious – and adorable – holiday treats!

Hipster Script, available here
We love typography and are always into the newest and greatest fonts. We’ve fallen in love with Hipster Script, an award-winning font by the same designer as the ever popular Feel Script font, and wanted to share some other award winners.
Harriet, available here
This show stopping serif font is full of fun variations that could be used at all sizes. We love the flexibility to use a consistent font for the headline and smaller type without sacrificing readability. You’ve gotta love a font with a fun ampersand, which this font has. This could be a great font for a wedding invitation. We love using different weights and cases of the same font to create a piece of typographical art. If the fonts chosen are all from the same family, like Harriet, the look stays cohesive and avoids a scrapbook-y look.
FF Mister K Informal, available here
This casual script is so fun for a more playful project. We all dream of having beautiful handwriting, but most of us just don’t have it. This font is perfect for when you want a handwritten look. We especially love handwritten fonts for kid projects and think this could be adorable used on a baby shower or birthday invite. We do suggest using scripts sparingly in a design because they can be hard to read at a small size in a large quantity, but this would be perfect for the guest of honor’s name. Choose a simple font for the large bodies of text.
Vibro, available here
You may be asking yourself what you could use such a font for, but we love the stripes in the font and in small doses know it would be awesome. Imagine a print with the word “LOVE” or any other small word in a big point size. We definitley don’t suggest using a font like this for small type or body text, but this is the perfect font for a fun GIANT piece of word art.
You may have your standby fonts, but take this as a challenge to find something fresh and uniquely yours. Choosing a font that is less popular can help you stand out from the crowd.

The default color palette for Easter is typically pastel, but we’re challenging that idea and going all bright. We have the most fabulous Easter Egg Hunt invite that is bright on kraft paper and wanted to share some party ideas that would work perfectly with your bright scheme and party.

We just love these bright polka dot balloons and think they would make the perfect addition to any party, especially your bright Easter celebration. Find a variety of colors in The TomKat Studio’s shop.

We just adore this bright Easter party featured on The Hostess with the Mostess. The color scheme of this party has hints of pastel with a bright colors, which is such a fresh take on the traditional look. In addition to the bright decor (hello! bright orange carrots!), the sweets are also coordinated in a bright scheme. Can you imagine your little guests excitement when they see such a color table of sweets?!

We love the bright colors that set up this party, but also the bold chevron pattern. It’s the perfect unexpected punch in the decor. This party is a perfect example of the power of paper. A lot of the theme is carried out with coordinating paper details and we just love that cohesive look. Another bit of decor that is fabulous is the mini pompoms. We’ve all used pompoms for party decor, but the quantity, small size and use one the trellis is a fresh take we adore.

So now we’ve given you the perfect invitation and some fab ideas for your own party, it’s time to get planning. We’re sure your guests — young and old — will love your fresh approach on the typical Easter color scheme.

We are so excited to give you a sneak peak of some of the latest designs we’ve been working on for debut at the National Stationery Show. This year we’ve added lots of glitter and texture that makes our stationery so fun!

This personalized, fold-over card is so sparkly and girly! It would make note writing just a little more exciting. We love the bright, multi-colored name and the totally whimsical font, but the pattern IN glitter is showstopping. Everyone needs a set of note cards for personal correspondence, but personalized cards also make perfect gifts for girlfriends. These are just too cute NOT to hang on to.

We love the use of glitter on a photo card and this one is the perfect choice for your holiday card. The holidays are a perfect occasion to share a little festive glitter and this card makes that easy. The holiday greeting in PINK glitter is beautiful and especially fun for a family of girlies.

In addition to glittery stationery, we’ve come up with some super fun sparkly phone cases we just know you’ll love. This case is simple, but customizable with your name. In a world where we all use the “same” phone, a case with your name is a fantastic feature.

What a fantastic way to take your favorite photo with you? This glittered case features your name AND a photo of your choosing. We love the idea of using your sweet kids faces on your phone. You can take them everywhere! In addition to the details of this case, the multi-colored look is so bright and happy. This would make an ideal Mother’s Day gift with a cherished photo.

So if you’re a girl who loves glitter, be sure to watch for all of our new designs coming out sparkly and ready to add a little pizazz into your life.

We are so excited to be a part of the National Stationery Show this year. If you’re not familiar with this design-lovers event, let us introduce you to the world’s most comprehensive marketplace for social stationery and related lifestyle products. No other trade fair in the U.S. matches the depth and caliber of stationery selection at the NSS — or serves as a launching pad for so many young, creative businesses each year. The trade show is attended by a diverse set of buyers from all over the world looking to stock their shelves with lovely paper.

In case you missed the NSS, we wanted to share some of our new products that we featured at the show. Our favorite element this year is GLITTER! You’ll notice these products are bedazzled and ready to wow!

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, blank note cards are the most versatile piece of stationery. We think everyone needs a set or two for personal correspondence and feel like they make thoughtful and personalized gifts. These cards are not only sparkly, but bright and on trend with the bold chevron pattern. We are sure writing in these cards would be fun as would be receiving one in the mail.

What better way to announce the arrival of your girly-girl than with glitter! Birth announcements can be so boring and generic, but this pink card is a sure to stun. In addition to the glitter, we love the girly script font and heart detail.

It’s never too early to be thinking about your family’s holiday card. Check it off your list today and avoid the stress come December. We love this fresh take on a multi-photo layout complete with… you guessed it! GLITTER!

And just in case your stationery needs are met, we’ve got some of the cutest phone cases you’ve ever seen. We love personalizing our phones with photos of the ones we love and these are especially cute with the bright colors and glitter.

So there you have it, your own personal tour around our booth at the National Stationery Show.

What better way to celebrate the summer than with a pool party? Planning a party can be intimidating, but we’ve got you covered from the perfect invitation to food, drinks and decor. The first step to any great party is choosing a theme. Read on to see all the details to match our pink and blue invitation and theme.

Pool parties come with heat so when choosing your menu, be sure to choose items that are sure to refresh your guests like these homemade popsicles. The flavor combinations are endless! Choose a flavor/color that matches your party color scheme. Take it one step further and server on color coordinated sprinkles for a real show stopping display.

This ice cream stand is the perfect addition to your next pool party. Nothing beats ice cream served pool side. We love the beautiful striped cart and attention to all the details making this a beautiful party center piece and a delicious treat everyone is sure to enjoy.

One of the easiest ways to create a beautiful party is to choose a theme, in this case a color theme, and stick to it with all the details, including the food and drink. This pink lemonade would be the perfect addition to any “pink” party.

Don’t forget the decor! We just love these beach balls hanging above the buffet table. Such a simple idea that makes a huge impact. When throwing a pool party think outside the box for decor. Find ways to use non-decor items that you use at the pool. For example, hang beach towels in coordinating colors.

We hope we’ve inspired you to throw a coordinated summer pool party with your friends and family with our Pool Party Invitation as the perfect jumping off point. Be sure to check out ModernPosh to find the perfect invitation for any party you are planning.

Here at Modern Posh, we love COLOR! Our designs are bright, beautiful and the perfect way to get the party started. Today we’re talking BRIGHT and FUN baby showers. We’ve got a great selection of beautiful baby shower invitations, but today want to focus on this beauty. We’ve come up with bright details to match the invite and make party planning a breeze.

Hostess with the Mostess

Who says bright can’t be elegant? We just love the details of this bright safari shower. Aisha of Little Bit Magazine created a modern party by using crisp white details and classic patterns. We just love the animal cutout cupcake toppers and are sure this could be the perfect touch for a DIY shower. How about that cake? You can’t go wrong with an elegant white imprinted fondant cake with ruffled ribbon and a fabric flower. This shower strikes the perfect balance of bright, yet elegant.

The TomKat Studio

Leave it to Kim of The TomKat Studio to present show-stopping bright baby showers. This shower was styled to celebrate Vera Bradley’s new baby collection using patterns just like the beautiful fabric used in the new baby line. This table is so successful because a color palette was chosen and maintained in every detail. We just love the banner and ribbon on front of the table. What a perfect way to personalize a party? Why have one cake when you can have three? Place multiple cakes at different heights to create a beautiful look on your table.

Celebrations at Home

Pink and orange is a match made in heaven, especially if you want to throw a bright baby shower for a baby girl. We love when people incorporate a color theme into every detail of the party, even the food. This party does that SO well. How adorable is the baby mama banner? Never underestimate the power of paper pompoms and bright fresh florals, both great ways to incorporate color.

The TomKat Studio

Are you familiar with operation shower? The event honors moms-to-be whose spouses are deployed members of the military. We love all the bright details used to make this a special day. We are especially crazy about that stunning cake by Hey There Cupcake. Talk about the perfect way to pull a bright color scheme together?! We also love the fun table put together by The TomKat Studio using brights next to kraft paper. The kraft paper look is so on trend right now and goes perfectly with the safari theme. How about that ruffled chair back? So fun!

So there you have it, just a small sampling of the beautiful, bright baby shower ideas from the most talented people around the web. To see all our beautiful baby shower invites visit our Oh So Baby category.

Summer is winding down and it’s back to school time! Send your little ones with a gesture of teacher appreciation to get the school year off on the right foot. In addition to all the perfect Modern Posh gifts, we’ve gathered a few ideas from around the web that are clever and totally cute.

Leave it to Kim at The TomKat Studio to come up with something so fun! This is so simple to put together. Pick up some highlighters while buying the kids school supplies and print the free tag. Add a ModernPosh notepad and you’re done and done!

If you want to go the extra mile, like the sisters with My Sister’s Suitcase, a gift basket full of apple themed items is a perfect token for a teacher. Plus, the basket can be re-used in the classroom. Gift baskets are great because you can really add a personal touch. How about topping this basket off with Modern Posh personalized cards? These are perfect for notes to parents.

Aren’t these succulents stunning? And the book page covered vase. Amy over at The Idea Room is genius! This gift is perfect for anyone. Succulents are easy to care for and the perfect bit of greenery for a classroom. Include a set of these personalized speech bubble cards from ModernPosh to make the gift complete.

It’s all in the presentation! This collection of “school tools” by lil’ luna is totally functional, but packaged to be over the top cute! Once again, the jars and basket can be used over and over. Educators love receiving practical gifts and things they need and use at school. Staying in touch with parents helps students succeed, which makes these calling cards the perfect gift. Personalize them with your teachers info and watch her hand them out at parent teacher conference.

If you don’t want to put together an elaborate basket, a personalized ModernPosh gift is a grand token of appreciation that will be loved and cherished by teachers everywhere. Click here to see all the beautiful ModernPosh products available.

It’s football season and over here at Modern Posh we couldn’t be more excited. We want to help you plan the ultimate football party. Whether it’s a birthday, baby shower or just a “game watching get together”, we’ve got you covered. All of our invitations have editable text that you can personalize for your specific event. We also carry a large selection of colors so you can show your team pride, starting with the invite.

One of the most simple ways to get started on your game day party prep is with COLOR. But what color? The decision is already made. Plan, create, buy details with the team colors in mind. Keeping all the elements in a specific pallet is an effortless way to tie the party together, plus the fans will appreciate all the team spirit!

Looking for a way to cover your generic table for the party? This idea is an easy DIY with BIG impact. This field table covering is not only festive, but totally functional. Protect that counter from spills and dings while looking totally cute. Add “laces” and this simple bunting becomes perfect for game day. Every party needs a pennant bunting.

One tip for successful party planning is to share the load. Plan to make a few delicious offerings and assign the rest. If you’re not into potluck, buy/order food. These football strawberries from berries.com are so fun and the perfect sweet treat for your guests.

Food options for a game day party are endless. Anything you can make into a football shape will be a total hit. We love this cheese ball, complete with laces. You could also buy a football shaped cookie cutter and go to town on brownies, sandwiches, cookies etc.

Chalkboards have become party staples and for good reason. These blank canvases are the perfect way to add a personal touch to a party, erase and start over your next party. The guys may not appreciate a beautiful table like this, but the girls sure will. We love the vintage football photos and use of astroturf under the cupcakes. And how about those football plates? Be sure to check your local party store for game day novelty items like this.

So now that we’ve peaked your interested, pick a game and get planning. And remember the best way to enjoy a game is with good food and a fun party.

Can you believe it’s that time of year? It’s so important to start thinking about your holiday card and photo early to avoid the stress that comes with December. At Modern Posh we have a great selection of cards for all photo shapes, sizes and layouts. You’ll love the bright colors and fun fonts on our beautiful two-sided cards. In order to make things super easy for you, we’ve got a three step guide to making your holiday cards a cinch.

Step 1: Browse the beautiful cards at Modern Posh. Pick out your favorite designs and take note of photo orientation and colors in the design. It doesn’t hurt to coordinate photo colors to the colors of the card design.

One thing to consider when taking your photos for your holiday card is orientation. If you have a favorite Modern Posh card in mind, be sure to let your photographer know what orientation the photo needs to be: horizontal, vertical or square.

Sometimes it’s SO hard to choose a favorite photo… so DON’T! Instead choose a multi-photo layout like this card and feature your kids individually as well as your entire family.

Our cards are so bright and fun that a black and white photo is the perfect compliment, plus everyone looks great in black and white. In addition to bright colors, we are known for mixing on-trend patterns for an eclectic layered look.

Sometimes the photo needs to be the star of the card, in which case we have you covered. You’ll find options for full bleed photo cards with a small, yet well designed message perfect to showcase that perfect photo.

Step 2: Find a photographer that fits your style or grab a friend and a tri-pod. Come up with ideas for your photo location, clothing, posing and props. We’ve collected some of our favorite ideas, but be sure to browse pinterest for ideas that fit your family.

Step 3: Prepare for the photo shoot. Makes sure kids are well fed, rested and maybe even bribed. Be prepared to go with the flow and relax. Candid photos are so fun and real smiles come when it’s a low-pressure situation.

Step 4: Choose a photo and visit Modern Posh to order your cards. Patiently await the arrival of your beautiful cards. Address, stamp and mail to your loved ones.

Sending and receiving holiday cards is one of our favorite parts of the season. We love to connect with old friends, see how their family is growing and update our own family photo. Today we want to show you a few of our favorite cards. Don’t see what you’re looking for? No worries, we’ve got a card for every personality.

For the Family with Classic Style

Nothing says classic like a black and white design. If you’re own who tries to avoid trends and stick to simple sophistication, this black and white striped card is for you. This card features traditional elements that don’t overshadow your beautiful photo. The neutral color palette make this the perfect fit for the most colorful family photo.

For the Family with all Girls

It’s all about the glitter this year. Everyone wants a little sparkle in their holiday and this is the perfect way to spread the magic of the season. We’re sure your girly girls will love getting involved with the envelope stuffing if you’re sending this sparkly card.

For the Festive Family

These red and green cards are the perfect pick for the family who loves Christmas. We love the modern take on the traditional palette by adding the mint green. Stressed about getting the perfect photo shoot together in time for holiday cards? No worries! This format would be perfect for some of your favorite Instagram photos you’ve taken this year.

For the Perfect Photo

If your photographer captured that perfect moment, a undeniably perfect photo, this card is the one for you. This design is perfect for really showing off a photo. A full-bleed photo with minimal design makes your photo big and bold.

For the Indecisive Family

Maybe you didn’t get your holiday cards out this year, no fear, here at Modern Posh Designs, we’ve got some adorable Valentine’s Day cards. We love the idea of sending cards in February. Not only does it take the stress off your shoulders in December, but it spreads the love. People expect happy mail throughout the holiday season, but by February the mailbox is filled with junk again. Your friends and family will love to receive happy mail for Valentine’s Day.

Square cards are such a fun way to show a little personality in your card. The variety of fonts and bright colors in this design makes this a perfect pick for a fun photo with your kids. All Modern Posh cards come with a coordinating back design that makes the card professional and extra special.

This full bleed card is the perfect way to showcase a great photo. The heart overlay takes up minimal space, making this design all about the people in the photo. The multi-color chevron back makes this fun and a perfect balance between design and photo.

We love this doodle card design especially if you want to get your kids (especially little ladies) involved in choosing and mailing your card. They’ll love the sketches and rainbow gradient. The polka-dot design on the back of this card really makes this card the all-round pick for a playful photo and card. This would be a great choice if your kids want to hand out personalized valentines to friends and classmates. Skip the grocery store options and order a personalized card from Modern Posh.

The typography in this card is so fun and colorful. We love using black and white photos with bright colorful designs, like this one. The bright LOVE text shows up so well on the photo and the colors don’t compete, but compliment each other.

So now’s the time! Find your favorite photo, have a mini photo shoot or hire a photographer; choose your photo and design and order now. You’ll have plenty of time to get these out by Valentine’s Day.
